MatriArch facilitates discussions on architectural education and practice, with the aim to share more female and non-binary voices and create a better more accessible environment. Over the two year period from 2018 to 2020 MatriArch have held events about expanding the architecture conversations, and have campaigned for a more equitable architecture studio environment.
The events included: ‘Nevertheless They Persisted’, the first public event hosted by MatriArch on International Women’s Day, 8 March 2019; the symposium ‘It’s Grim Down South’ on 16 October 2019, and the symposium ‘Practicing Feminist’ that was held on 6 March 2020.
In addition, MatriArch were invited to speak at Sheffield’s UCU Feminist Teachout on the 5 March 2020, presenting a piece entitled ‘The Perils of Tradition’.
