{"id":2077,"date":"2021-03-26T14:00:32","date_gmt":"2021-03-26T14:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/feministssoa.group.shef.ac.uk\/?p=2077"},"modified":"2025-07-27T19:35:49","modified_gmt":"2025-07-27T18:35:49","slug":"agency-research-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/feminist.ssoa.info\/?p=2077","title":{"rendered":"AGENCY Research Group"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"font-size:15px\">The<strong style=\"user-select: auto;\"> Agency Research Group<\/strong> emerged from the convergence of work by staff and researchers in and around the subject of architectural practice and education that was critical of normative values and processes, wanting to propose alternatives and to explore how architectural practice and education might evolve. The name Agency, potentially provocative, was chosen to give an immediate sense of the research in the group being active, engaged, and outward looking. It implies change, with a hint of subversive irony. Agency\u2019s strap line &#8216;Transformative Research into Architectural Practice and Education&#8217;, expands this notion of being active and `transformative\u00b4 and suggests a research activity that both creates and responds to shifting conditions.<br>\u2018Instead of remaining passively (and safely) contained within our academic environments, the group members see themselves as \u2018agents\u2019 acting both within and between the fields of research, practice, education, and civic life\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:15px\">Doina Petrescu, Prue Chiles and \u2018The Agency\u2019.
